Mr. Rajtar came to MIVT in February 2002 with a strong background in the development of medical devices. He has extensive experience in a broad range of advanced technologies and served previously in a number of executive positions with world-class companies.
Over the last 14 years he served in key positions with startup companies in the medical device field and other areas integral to the medical industry. Mr. Rajtar also serves as an adjunct professor at the University of British Columbia's Faculty of Metals and Materials Engineering.

Sally Greenwood brings over 18 years of experience in the non-profit, health care and social services sectors. Most recently she was the Director of Communications for Community Living BC (Crown Agency). She also held senior positions with BC Transplant and the BC Centre for Disease Control, agencies of the Provincial Health Services Authority.
Prior to her move to the field of transplantation and public health, Sally worked for the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, BC Division as the Director for Development and Communications. Her communications experience spans government and stakeholder relations, marketing communications and educational and program development. Much of her focus over the last few years has been in the area of strategic change communications as she participated directly in major health care and social service reorganizations.

Dr. Schweizer joined Burcon in May of 2002 as a process-engineering specialist. He relocated from Nancy, France, where he earned his doctorate at the Institut National Polytechnique de Lorraine, with an emphasis on the enzymatic hydrolysis of rapeseed proteins.
Prior to his Ph.D. work, Dr. Schweizer studied chemical engineering at the University of Karlsruhe, Germany, where he specialized in food process engineering and water technology. Since January of 2003, Dr. Schweizer has overseen Burcon's research and development efforts at its Winnipeg Technical Center.

Cormack is the founding President and CEO of OncoGenex. He has almost two decades of diverse experience in the biotechnology industry in executive management, research and development, regulatory affairs, business development, operations, sales and marketing and corporate finance.
At Vetrepharm Research (now Bioniche Life Sciences), Mr. Cormack successfully led the development of the company's immunotherapeutic from lab bench through preclinical development and into clinical trials in oncology.
This technology was also successfully applied to vaccines as an adjuvant, and as an immunotherapy for viral diseases and oncology in veterinary indications and was approved for marketing in multiple countries. He was a key factor in Aspreva's TSX and NASDAQ $100 million IPO in 2005, the largest in Canadian healthcare history.
Mr. Parkinson co-chaired the Joint Finance Committee with partner Hoffman-La Roche, which held the responsibility for managing the financial elements of their $1.7 billion annual revenue sharing and collaboration agreement. Previously, he focused on financial, high-tech and public company practices during his 10 years with KPMG. May 21, 2008 - Allon Therapeutics Inc. announced the appointment of J. Steven Whitaker, M.D., J.D. as Vice President, Clinical Development and Chief Medical Officer of the Company.
Gordon McCauley, President and CEO of Allon, said Whitaker will manage the clinical development and medical affairs related to Allon's expanding program of clinical trials, including interactions with prospective pharmaceutical company partners, regulatory authorities, trial investigators, physicians and patients.
"Steve has enjoyed significant success as a leader in clinical development and regulatory strategy related to products at all stages - from early-stage preclinical development through to international regulatory approval and commercialization," said McCauley.
"In addition, Steve's experience managing a joint venture between a biotech company and a major pharmaceutical company will be invaluable to Allon as we work toward completing a development and commercialization partnership with a major pharmaceutical company in 2008."
Whitaker was Division Vice-President, Clinical Research at ICOS Corporation in Seattle until it was acquired by Eli Lilly and Company (NYSE:LLY - News) in 2007.
Previously, he held a number of roles of increasing responsibility in clinical research and medical affairs after joining ICOS in 1994. Whitaker's achievements include filing with the United States Food and Drug Administration an Investigational New Drug application for approval to start clinical trials and a New Drug Application for marketing approval for the same product.
Whitaker received an M.D. (with highest distinction) from the Indiana University School of Medicine, a J.D. (with highest distinction) from the University Of Washington School Of Law, and a Bachelor of Science in physics and mathematics from Butler University.
Whitaker said being Chief Medical Officer of Allon gives him the opportunity to contribute to a clinical organization dedicated to disease-modifying therapies for neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's.
"Allon is a particularly exciting company because it has a promising compound that has demonstrated human efficacy in its Alzheimer's program, a strong team dedicated to helping people, and a can-do culture focused on building a multi-product sustainable company," said Whitaker.
McCauley said Whitaker will work closely with Karole Sutherland, Vice President, Clinical Operations, and Bruce Morimoto, Ph.D., Vice President, Drug Development, who have been instrumental in Allon's successful clinical trial programs to date.

Saperstein joined QLT Inc. in May 1, 2007, and is a retinal specialist practicing at Vitreoretinal Associates and an active medical staff at Swedish Hospital in Seattle, Washington. Dr. Saperstein specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of retinal diseases and has a special interest in the treatment of age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic retinopathy, surgical diseases of the retina and the management of ocular trauma.
Dr. Saperstein actively participates in clinical trials for the treatment of AMD; he has had continuous and ongoing research funding, has authored several peer reviewed articles, published abstracts and six book chapters, and also received a number of honors and awards.

Karimah Es Sabar has had a dynamic career in the healthcare industry globally since 1982, having worked on five continents with business associations in over 60 countries. Ms. Es Sabar has held senior management positions with international multinational companies, most notably as Director International Division, and later Director Marketing & Business Development at Connaught Laboratories Limited [now Aventis Pasteur] based in Toronto.
Amongst her achievements, the company received the Gold Canada Award for Business Excellence in 1992 for the International Division's marketing success in Europe; and she very successfully project managed the company's first biotherapeutic from development to launch worldwide.
More recently Ms. Es Sabar was Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for a North Vancouver medical devices company. She was also the founder and Managing Director of SAL Healthcare Limited, a leading healthcare organization in Kenya specializing in pharmaceutical marketing, distribution and healthcare consulting services. The company set new standards in the marketing and distribution of healthcare products in the region.
She took on the role of Executive Director of BC Biotech in April of 2005, and since that time, has led the organization to its greatest levels of success to date. As one of the primary spokespeople for the biotechnology industry in British Columbia, Ms. Es Sabar regularly represents the industry in key public policy discussions, and parlays her global business development expertise into strong international marketing efforts on behalf of the industry.

Dr. Gallen joined Neuromed in July 2004 as President & CEO and has led the company to two of its private equity financings, a transformative licensing deal with Merck & Co. and an acquisition of the U.S. marketing rights of a Phase 3 chronic pain product from ALZA Corporation.
Dr. Gallen has extensive experience in clinical and corporate development and has been instrumental in the commercialization of several drugs. Most recently, Dr. Gallen was Vice President and Chief of Operations, Clinical Research and Development at Wyeth Research in charge of global clinical operations including clinical trial management, data management, biostatistics, clinical communications, procedural compliance and training and was a key driver in the re-engineering of Wyeth Clinical Research and Development.
Prior to Wyeth, Dr. Gallen was VP of Clinical Research at Pharmacia and was responsible for overseeing global CNS development and clinical operations for all specialties and clinical research in the Western Hemisphere. Previous positions include President of the CRO division at Premier Research Worldwide, where he was a key contributor to a successful IPO, and Senior Director of Medical and Scientific Services at Quintiles International Clinical Research Corporation.
Dr. Gallen received his M.D. and Ph.D. (Biochemistry) from the Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia and completed residencies in Psychiatry at Stanford and in Neurology at UCSD.
