Christopher Guzy joined Ballard as Vice President and Chief Technology Officer in February 2005. In January 2008, Dr. Guzy took on the additional role of Vice President of Operations. Dr. Guzy's areas of responsibility include worldwide operations, technology research and development and product development.

Immediately prior to joining Ballard, Dr. Guzy was General Manager of GE Healthcare's product development and supply chain operations in Hungary from 2001 to 2005.

He also held a number of other senior technology and product development leadership positions in GE's plastics, lighting, and appliance business units during his 17 years at General Electric in the United States and Europe.

Michael Hayden has served as our Chief Scientific Officer since March 1999 and has been a member of Xenon's Board of Directors since November 1996.

He is currently a full professor of Medical Genetics at the University of British Columbia, as well as Director of the Center for Molecular Medicine and Therapeutics (CMMT) in Vancouver; the CMMT is a gene research center under UBC's Faculty of Medicine.

Author of over 400 peer-reviewed publications and invited submissions, Dr. Hayden focuses his research primarily on genetic diseases, including genetics of lipoprotein disorders, Huntington's disease and predictive medicine. In association with his colleagues, Dr. Hayden developed the proposal which led to the award of the Canadian Centers of Excellence on the genetic basis of disease.

This effort has been furthered by his involvement in the Canadian Genetic Diseases Network; Dr. Hayden has served as the Network's Scientific Director since its inception in 1990.

John Sheridan was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer on February 22, 2006 having been in the role on an interim basis since October 12, 2005. He was previously Chair of the Board (June, 2004 to February 22, 2006), and has been a director since 2001.

Mr. Sheridan is a prominent leader in Canada's business community with a strong track record of success in diverse challenges. Over the course of his twenty-one year career with Bell Canada, he rose to high impact officer roles including Vice President of Sales and Service, Group Vice President of Business Development, and President and Chief Operating Officer.

In between his positions within Bell Canada, Mr. Sheridan joined Encom Cable TV as CEO, and led the growth of the fully integrated telecommunications company. He was recognized as an innovative leader in the industry and elected Vice-Chairman of the UK Cable Communication Association in 1994.

Mr. Sheridan has extensive experience in corporate governance, as a director, committee chair and board chair of numerous companies in Canada, the USA, and the UK. He currently serves as a director on the board of NewPage Corporation, the leading US coated paper company and most recently was appointed director to the board of Photowatt Technologies, a developer of solar technology and manufacturer of solar products. Photowatt Technologies is an affiliate of ATS Automation Tooling Systems Inc.

Mr. Sheridan holds a Bachelor of Environmental Studies from the University of Waterloo, a Bachelor of Arts from Wilfrid Laurier University's School of Business and Economics, and a Master of Arts in Economics from Queens University. Peter Stickler joined Ballard as Vice President, Human Resources in January 2003. Mr. Stickler is responsible for leading Ballard's global human resources function.

Before joining Ballard, Mr. Stickler held a number of senior leadership positions with Ford Motor Company, including: Director of Organizational Effectiveness, Director, Human Resources for Ford North America, and Vice President of Human Resources for Visteon Automotive Systems.

Mr. Stickler's career in Human Resources with Ford Motor Company spanned 27 years where he has made significant contributions in the full scope of human resource issues.

Mr. Stickler is Executive Leadership Fellow for the Institute for Global Ethics (IGE). Mr. Stickler holds a Masters degree in Labor and Industrial Relations from Michigan State University and a Bachelors degree in Social Sciences from St. John's University, both in the U.S.

Dr. North led the early development of Inimex' IDR technology, serving as EVP of R&D in 2004 and then President and Chief Executive Officer 2005 to 2009. Prior to joining Inimex, he served as Sr. Vice President, Scientific Affairs and Chief Scientific Officer of QLT Inc.

Earlier in his career, Dr. North was Managing Director of Monotech Laboratories Ltd., Biotechnology Consultant at PA Technology Ltd. and spent 12 years with various U.K. and U.S.-based subsidiaries within the Beaufour Ipsen Group, most recently as Head of Exploratory Development at Ipsen International in the U.K. Dr. North received a Ph.D. in Immunology and an M.A. in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge, England.

Dr. MacDonald received his engineering education at the University of British Columbia and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). After graduating from MIT in 1964, he joined the MIT engineering faculty and later assumed a professorial position in Electrical Engineering at the University of British Columbia.

He is co-founder and former CEO and Chairman of MacDonald Dettwiler & Associates Ltd., one of Canada's leading aerospace firms, which he led for thirty years.

Dr. MacDonald has extensive experience in industrial leadership, international business development and as an advisor to governments and companies internationally. He currently serves as a member of advisory councils for the Canadian Department of National Defense, the University of British Columbia and the Canadian Space Agency.

He is also a member of Task 8 of the Photovoltaic Power Systems Program of the International Energy Agency, an international team studying the feasibility of very large-scale photovoltaic power systems.

Dr. Lutwyche joined Tekmira's subsidiary company, Protiva Biotherapeutics Inc., in February 2008, and has responsibility for manufacturing, process development and quality control for all Tekmira product candidates as well as supporting Tekmira's collaborative partners as they advance products based on Tekmira's technology.

Tekmira expects three siRNA product candidates using the company's SNALP delivery technology will be in clinical development in 2009.

Dr. Lutwyche joined Tekmira from QLT Inc., where he was employed for ten years, most recently as Director, Pharmaceutical Development. During his tenure at QLT, Dr. Lutwyche contributed to the development and commercialization of Visudyne as well as leading manufacturing and chemistry efforts for numerous preclinical and clinical stage products.

Prior to QLT, he was a research scientist at Inex Pharmaceuticals Corporation working with lipid-based formulations of nucleic acids and antibiotics. Dr. Lutwyche holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of British Columbia.

Rajender Kamboj, Executive Vice President, Drug Discovery joined Xenon in April 2002. Dr. Kamboj was previously the Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer of Allelix Biopharmaceuticals Inc. (part of NPS Pharmaceuticals, Inc) where he had primary responsibility for managing their drug discovery programs.

In his 12 years with Allelix/NPS, Dr. Kamboj managed research teams covering all aspects of drug discovery and development, from initial research to clinical trials.

Under his leadership at Allelix/NPS, Dr. Kamboj also established, implemented and managed significant corporate partnerships with Eli Lilly, Hoechst Marion Roussel (now Aventis) and Janssen Pharmaceutica (part of Johnson & Johnson).

He led the development of nine drug discovery programs in neurological, metabolic and other therapeutic areas. During his tenure, four drug development programs were independently advanced into clinical studies by Allelix/NPS and three programs partnered with Eli Lilly, Aventis and Johnson & Johnson were advanced into late-stage pre-clinical development. Dr. Kamboj received his PhD from the University of Adelaide in Australia.

Randy Groves brings extensive experience in computer systems, software, and semiconductor design. He was most recently the Vice President of Engineering for LifeSize Communications, the leader in high definition video communications. Before joining LifeSize, he was Chief Technology Officer for Dell Product Group responsible for the architecture and technology direction for all of Dell's product offerings. Prior to that, he was the General Manager of Dell Enterprise Systems Group and was responsible for the worldwide development and marketing of Dell's server, storage, and systems management software products.

Before joining Dell, Randy spent 21-years at IBM where he held many product development roles for IBM's Intel- and RISC-based servers, as well as roles in corporate strategy and RISC microprocessor development and architecture.

Randy holds a master's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Texas, a master's degree in management of technology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and general business administration from Kansas State University. He is the author of numerous technical papers, disclosures, and patents as well as the recipient of several corporate and industry awards.

Dr. Andreas Schneider graduated with a master's degree in physics from the University of Freiburg, Germany. He joined the photovoltaic group of Prof. Dr. Bucher at University of Konstanz, Germany, in early 2000 where he graduated with honors and a PhD in 2004.

After receiving his PhD, Dr. Schneider continued to work in Konstanz area, involved in national and European projects that focused on increasing solar cell performance in industrial solar cell production lines.

Dr. Schneider has a broad experience in solar cell processing from wafer to finished cell, in a large variety of different characterization methods. Dr. Schneider joined Day 4 Energy in the fall of 2004.

Dr. Rubin is a professor of biophysics who took early retirement in 1993 and has since been involved in international consulting as well as a number of scientific pursuits.

He has a strong background in natural sciences including solar energy conversion, photochemistry, photobiology, applied optics, and electronics. He has published more than 250 articles and papers in scientific journals and invented 21 patents including several in the area of solar energy conversion. During his academic career, he supervised 22 postgraduate students and 82 graduate students.

Dr. Rubin has extensive experience in international technology transfer situations and has also acted as a consultant to an international patent attorney firm. Professor Rubin is one of the inventors of the most important aspects of Day4's technology.

Dr. Abrams is the founding CEO of AnorMED, Inc and led that company as President and CEO for ten years. AnorMED discovered and developed Mozobil, a drug for improving stem cell mobilization for patients undergoing stem cell transplantation. Mozobil was approved by FDA in 2008 and AnorMED was acquired by Genzyme Corp. in 2006 for $580M. Prior to AnorMED, Abrams was Manager Biomedical Research for Johnson Matthey, plc where he led the spin-off of the biomedical research group to form AnorMED.

Abrams has a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a BA in Chemistry from Bowdoin College. In 2009 he was a co-recipient of the Georg Charles de Hevesy Nuclear Pioneer Award from the Society of Nuclear Medicine for his work in the invention of the radiopharmaceutical, Cardiolite.
