Dr Okoye is an accomplished educator and entrepreneur. He was a Commissioner for Oaths in and for the province of Manitoba, and currently is a consultant criminologist. He was also the founding director of BC Peace Foundation, located at Simon Fraser University. The Foundation undertook research into and consultancy work on youth criminality behaviour, crime and criminal justice system.

Dr Okoye's experience of the criminal justice system, first as a practitioner in Canada (with the Manitoba Attorney General Department, Corrections Division), and second as an academic in the UK (with Cambridge University, Leeds University and The Open University) spans well over twenty years.

Dr Okoye has held both faculty and senior administrative level posts in universities and colleges here and abroad. He has a BA in Political Science and Sociology from Brandon University, an MPA (Master of Public Administration) from the University of Manitoba, an MPhil (Master of Philosophy in Criminology) from Cambridge University, and a PhD in Criminology and Criminal Justice from Leeds University. He is on the external program of London University's LLM (Master of Laws), UK.

Dr Okoye has written on a variety of criminology and criminal justice topics including in broad terms, victimization of the elderly, courts, correctional policies on privatization, youth delinquency, etc. He has made several scholarly contributions to a number of plenary committees, and most recently to the Special Select Standing Committee on Education in British Columbia.

Dr Okoye is a Fellow of Cambridge Commonwealth Society (UK), a member of IFEPS (International Forum for the Advancement of Education in Penal Systems), and past President and CEO of an international corporation.

This is John‘s third year as Principal of Kenneth Gordon, but his experience with the school began 13 years ago with his daughter's enrolment at KGS. He served as Chair of the Kenneth Gordon Board from 1996 to 1998 and has been involved with many other organizations in the learning disabilities field.

He obtained a B.A. and a B.Ed. from Simon Fraser University (specializing in Psychology, History and Learning Disabilities) and a Masters in Educational Administration from the University of British Columbia. Prior to working at KGS, John was with the North Vancouver School District where he was involved with District and Provincial initiatives in Math, career programs, counseling and student leadership.

This is Rosita's second year as vice-principal of Kenneth Gordon. Her experience with special education began with raising two children with special needs. It was her children who inspired her to pursue a Masters of Arts in Special Education and Educational Psychology in UBC. Prior to working at KGS, Rosita's background in teaching included being a classroom teacher in the regular classroom, supporting students with special needs as a resource teacher, coordinating district wide special needs programs, being a mentor to resource teams, and finally as a district consultant for resource teams in the Vancouver School District.

Rosita is also involved in resource development for Nelson Publishing in the area of mathematics education because of her background in mathematics in her undergraduate studies at UBC. The textbook series she co-authored is used currently across Canada, especially in Ontario and BC. Rosita enjoys spending time with her two grown children, traveling, hiking and skiing.
