Burnaby, May 12, 2010 - BC Milk Producers Association is pleased to welcome Dr. Rehanni Khaseipoul, DVM, as the new Director of Communication and Planning.
Rehanni studied Animal Science at UBC and received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1994 from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. For several years she ran her own veterinary animal hospital in Port Moody before joining the Canadian Food Inspection Service (CFIA).
Rehanni has received media and crisis management training and was deeply involved in dealing with the avian flu outbreak. She was the Veterinarian in Charge of Pitt Meadows Meats and was the Western Veterinary Disease Control Specialist for BC and Alberta. For the past two years Rehanni returned to a limited public practice.
Rehanni is looking forward to applying her knowledge, experience and communication skills to advance and grow the BC dairy industry.

John Zaplatynsky is a founder and principal of Pender West (www.penderwest.com), and is the President and CEO of Canada GardenWorks Ltd. GardenWorks is a privately-owned and operated retail garden centre with nine retail stores located in the Lower Mainland of B.C. and on Vancouver Island.
Mr. Zaplatynsky successfully expanded GardenWorks from the initial acquisition of one Art Knapp garden centre in 1984 to one of the largest businesses of its kind in Canada. Mr. Zaplatynsky has been active in the past on numerous boards and associations including the Chair of the Retail Merchants Association of B.C., President of B.C.Landscape and Nursery Association, President of the Canadian Nursery and Landscape Association and as a board member of Mountain Equipment Co-op. He currently serves as a Director on the Boards of Comptec Inc. and VanDusen Botanical Gardens Association and as Past President, Vancouver Executives Association.
Mr. Zaplatynsky holds a BSc from the University of Manitoba.
